Fixed! (Original: Stopped Working)

Update: Rebooted the NAS, logged out and logged back in to the app. It started working again. Original Review: It used to work fine, all of sudden says incompatible firmware and doesn’t connect. It should have warned before the update that this will break existing working setup. Unbelievable!

iOS junk

Works fine on android

UI needs work

I’m really not liking the bright orange borders when it’s supposed to be in dark mode. Also, it’s very hard to read white text on a bright background. Also, would you please put the menu back at the bottom? There is too much stuff at the top already and notifications go up there. So if a notification pops up at the same time I’m about to tap on a menu item, I end up going to the notification instead. There’s plenty of room at the bottom. I guess everyone’s trying to be like Apple, but Apple doesn’t always make the best decisions on the UI. Yours was better.

Useless

Using iPad with 17.6.1 OS. Apple’s Files app finds and logs into my Qnap NAS without any difficulty. BUT this app’s network Discover Device never finds the NAS. I then try login using the server’s address and that method always returns error Cannot connect to QNAP device no matter what user permission I use. This app couldn’t be less worthless.

Good

Awesome! i can practice my saxophone by listening to instrumental music through this app.

Background upload doesn’t work

Background upload only works when the app is open. And why does the app require to always know my location even though it’s set to upload over WiFi??

Amazing

This app can do a lot of things.

Crashes when configuring auto upload

iPhone 15 pro. App crashes when trying to select a folder during configuration of auto photo upload. Rebooted and reinstalled app. Same issue.

Useless

I don’t understand where to find the downloaded file. The downloaded files are not appear in the share iOS folder. If QNAP not fixing this, this app is useless. I can use other file explorer app to download file from the NAS instead.

Causes huge bloat in “other data”

Every time I use this app to send a file to my queue app, the file gets stored in the strange wasteland of “other data or system data”, so I’m not gaining any storage by moving over to the queue nap. Overtime this app will cause your iPad or phone to completely run out of storage. it has a cache but that’s not where the data is being stored so there is no way to clear the data without deleting the app and you have to constantly delete it and uninstall it to keep the garbage data off of your device.

Important Options are not available

To the development team, your app must explicitly ask iPhone users for discover and connection to local area network. PLUS,the app must do the same regard access to gallery, these options are not available by default under device settings. IPhone 13 Pro user.

Background upload process was killed all the time

After close the app but keep background app refreshing

Cache management problem

I regularly send files from my NAS to other applications. Its logical that the app needs to download the file first before it can share the file to another application. However, i don’t understand why it never delete that temporary download. I dont click on download, i want want to store any files offline with the qfile app. Using the app for a month and I end up having 30-40 gb of cache. It never clears automatic, i have to go and manually clear it. Is the point of cache thats it’s temporary and dynamically managed. Taking 30-40gb for a file management app is just stupid and I have to go and clear it manually? So dumb

Please restore offline viewing of cached files

A recent update removed History from Downloads, and it’s no longer possible to open recently opened files that haven’t been saved to Downloads without being connected to the NAS, even though the files are still locally cached. Please restore History and offline viewing of cached files.

Thank you for the update.

The new update looks great! Keep on continuously improving the app.

App version 4

Still works.

Auto upload doesn’t work iphone 14

The auto upload feature doesn’t work on iphone 14. I have played around with the setting and as soon as I open another app and return to this one nothing has been uploaded.

Outdated app

Long user of this app and had not seen much of an update in years. Qnap team uses this to lure customers, but they don’t invest effort to make it any worthwhile. Key features are missing. You need to login and start from the same NAS root folder on every file you save or open. You cannot save a PDF from iOS Safari. Miserable app, what more to say. My next NAS is not going to be from Qnap.

Complete waste of time

This app is worthless. It does not integrate with iOS at all. You can connect to your server, but once there you cannot do anything with files. Other apps integrate with “files” and allow downloading to the local device or “sharing” to other apps such as photos, mail, messages, airdrop, etc. other apps allow copying files to “files” where you can move files to iCloud, Dropbox, etc. This app does none of this. Downloads go to some hidden location which cannot even be accessed by a connected desktop (unlike every other iOS app). Don’t waste your time. Find another server solution. This platform is crippled.

FANTASTIC !!!

Just what I was looking for !!!

QFile has been using your location

QFile has been using your location

Won’t stay running in background

App will not stay running in background making auto upload of phone pictures near impossible. Otherwise app is running really good nowadays.FIX THIS ONE IMPORTANT PROBLEM AND APP WIll BE PERFECT!!!easily 5stars

App Ram Issues on IOS

I use this application daily and it’s recently been a problem to jump between app back and forth to grab information on phone. When you open the app it loads all folders etc but when you minimize it to change apps and come back to grab info it has to completely reload and logs me out. Kindly fix this ASAP it’s truly an issue for productivity.

Solid app, one of QNAP’s better ones.

Just got into the whole NAS setup. This is a pretty decent all for browsing your files. Very fast! One thing I noticed, it lacks support for DNG photo file formats. Fix this and I’ll give you the fifth star.

S-L-O-W

This version is slow from logging in to browsing files. NAS File Explorer can be found in the App Store which is similar, but older version of the app that runs better and faster.

Completely unusable

Application was once useful, but lost all functionality when they removed external IP access. Stuck trying to use the cloud link option and files never load. I’m now left with a blank screen and files never seem to load.

What’s the Point?

I was trying copy/move files and could not find any option. If it’s there, it’s so well hidden.

Backend trackers…

1-star and deleting since there is no reason for this app to be contacting Facebook.

Data Plan

This is APP is ok but only works on my Wi Fi Does not work on any other Wi Fi .also does not work on Data Plan .Can u explain this .Brendan Soraghan

Stop changing things

WTH, this app is pure crap now. what happened it was working fine? Where is the logout button? Not there, i have several NAS’s that i log into. What happened to the main screen where i can choose the NAS i want instead of the last NAS i was connected to. software engineers are morons, just leave things alone, you don’t know what you are doing. nothing worse than making an app worse than it was bit was fine, no changes needed. Morons…

Decent interface

Has improved plenty over the years. Much faster than even using the desktop web UI.

Dark mode nice but interface worse…

Dark mode nice but interface worse. It’s far more clunky and less intuitive. Most annoying is that background tasks, file copies etc do not show progress at all. That could be significantly improved. A moving progress bar would be a good start. Actual details would be better.

Rendered Useless

The latest update for iOS (3.0.0.1609) made this app much worse than it has already been. If you use it as I do (for both your non-admin and admin accounts), it is only serviceable as a file manager if you turn off Auto Upload. Why QNAP shares the same settings across different sign on accounts is mind boggling. The people that program it must not use it; or, if they do, they use it as users and not administrators. The feature they broke with this update is the (local) download folder and media player. If you are using the download folder while not connected to stream music or (extremely annoying) an audiobook, periodically, the sign on screen will pop up and the media player will be unloaded. This also happens if you happen to be logged in while using the LOCALLY STORED download folder and you lose your connection to the server. They also removed the ability to log out of a connection. Now, to log out, you must exit the app. WHY MESS WITH THAT?? The latest update was just toxic lipstick on a pig. Two stars for file management.

Enhanced... interface?????

More like totally ruined the interface. Very awkward and wrong Give me back the old interface. New one is horrible

Not Reliable

One word describes QFile: Unreliable

One improvement would make it perfect

When using the app to upload photos from my It should have an option that allows it to be removed from my phone once it transfers to the queue file folder. If you want to use it on your phone and move it to another hard drive you have to keep track of which photos you already moved on your phone go back and then delete them off your phone so this is pretty annoying. If they could make this feature I would give us a five star rating

Broken.

Gives “Permission denied” when using advanced folders and won’t allow upload of files. Same credentials work fine for native iOS Files app as well as Win10 Explorer so it’s a QFile app problem.

If you not an I.T guy it not for you.

This app works great I watch movie from it get work files everything.I’ve made accounts for other users in the USA and Japan login with Qfile to my QNAP. It’s advanced beyond people not ready for the computer world. Don’t listen to trash talkers there dumb. If your up for a challenge it just that and rewarding.

Does not work with ios14

Software currently does not work with ios14 devices. App loads but is unable to connect with NAS

Lacks fingerprint support

Missing some basic features like fingerprint login that make it not quite ready for prime time yet. Promising start - hope they work on this one some and make it useful.

Can’t lock encrypted shares

You can unlock encrypted folders, but once you do they remain unlocked. You have to log into the QTS website to lock them up again. Seems like a key feature was overlooked

Great interface experience on iPad and iPhone!

The QFile app works well on my two Apple mobile devices. It helps me access all the Windows, MacBook, and Linux stuff on my QNAP NAS. I get great upload and download speeds and the interface is intuitive and it adds a windows kind of file system “feel” to my phone and tablet. Love it! Thank you.

Good, but Room for improvement.

Would love to see support for Apple’s Shortcuts app to build workflows.

Excellent Effort

You are a Great Company, Please Don’t stop innovating, Keep it Up ❤️

Are you a Technical User?

If setting up Basic Network configurations, static IP’s and troubleshooting are not your strong suit; Don’t get a NAS. I’ve been using this app for 5 years with no probelms. Not sure why this even rated so low.

Apple Live Photo’s Not Uploading

Files which are Live Photo’s and listed as .mov files will not upload from Apple iPhone XR. JPEGs and regular .mov videos upload, however Live Photo’s associated with .mov will not.

qfile new version can‘t find sony dlna

qfile new version can‘t find sony dlna

Which is all I could ask for.

It's a nice app but something is missing. Please add dark mode on the next release.
